Tallinn Technical University is committed to high level research and development in the broad fields of technology, science and management. Being the only university of technology and engineering in Estonia, Tallinn Technical University plays a notable role providing education in related fields on the undergraduate and graduate level, and conducting research and development projects for the benefit of economy and community. University employs more than 830 persons in academic staff. University budget exceeds 23 million EUR, of which 6.5 mill is devoted to research activities. Institute of Informatics is focused on mainly on software development. Software agents and electronic commerce for resident and consumer use, mobile and personal communication, formal and informal timing analysis of systems, service oriented architectures creation methodologies are main research directions.
